Euro bulls have been largely absent during the past several New York sessions, and today was no exception. The EUR/USD currency pair dropped more than 80 pips following the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange.

The euro spent the greater part of the European trading day gaining ground against the major currencies on the back of market rumors of IMF aid for Ireland. Two hours into the New York session, the euro's rally ended, and the common currency ended the trading week on a softer note.
